THE MAVERICK · SEPTEMBER 2026

Fall starts with a Lodge in motion.

Remembrance, a new patio, growing volunteerism — and more ways to serve, gather and get involved.

WHAT WE BUILT THIS MONTH

September's initiatives.

The moments, projects and member energy shaping September at #2148.

REMEMBRANCE

We paused to remember September 11.

The Lodge marked the 25th anniversary of September 11 with a remembrance ceremony honoring the lives lost, families forever changed, and those who served.

LODGE LIFE

The new patio opens another place to belong.

The September 12 grand opening turns months of work into a new space for live music, food and time together at the Lodge.

PARTICIPATION

Fall brings more ways to raise a hand.

Golf, ELKtoberfest, Antlers, Riders and a growing volunteer program give members more than one way to take part.

SEPTEMBER 11 REMEMBRANCE

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Shared during Scottsdale Elks Lodge #2148’s September 11 remembrance ceremony.

We went to work like always,
In our cars, the bus or train.
That day began so normal,
But it ended quite insane.

Eight-forty six that morning,
That first plane would hit the tower.
Creating so much damage,
Cause it hit with such great power.

Just 18 minutes later,
When the second plane would crash.
There was not time to think,
Cause it all happened in a flash.

First responders acted quickly,
They all rushed to get inside.
If not for these brave heroes,
Many others could have died.

They saved so many lives,
Because they did their jobs so well.
Brought all of them to safety,
Right before those buildings fell.

It was such a total shock
To see those buildings start to fall.
There are way too many people,
Who did not get out at all.

Every one of us remembers,
Where they were that fateful day.
There’s just no way of knowing,
Why these people act this way.

We hope the day will come,
When we can all feel safe again.
Many prayers are sent to God,
These type of things will finally end.

Thank you to Adrian Hreshchyshyn for reciting The Day the Earth Stood Still during our September 11 remembrance ceremony.
